GENERAL ASSEMBLY 1: DISARMAMENT AND INTERNATIONAL SECURITY (DISEC)

THE EXECUTIVE BOARD

PRESIDENTARYAN SINGH

 Dear Delegates,

As President of the Security Council, I consider it my duty to ensure that committee will be fast-paced, fun, and fulfilling. Aur ek baar jo maine commitment kar di, main apni bhi nahi sunta.

PS - Don't worry, the only things I'm going to be running over are the rules of procedure.

DEPUTY PRESIDENT: DEVAK BHARDWAJ

At SMUN17, we hope to make UNSC the best committee SMUN has to offer. Both agendas deal with volatile world issues which could trigger something much worse if not dealt with. Thus, we will work hard together to resolve any problems and I promise the experience will be unforgettable.

PRESIDENT: ADITYA RAVISWAMI

"What makes a good delegate?"

A good delegate is equipped with a comprehensive understanding of the agenda and the procedure, and confidence. Don't be afraid to step up and voice your opinions and most of all learn from every mistake. I will do my best to make this adventure fun and unforgettable.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY 6:

LEGAL

MODERATOR: AKANKSHA GUPTA

Dear delegates,

Welcome to the committee that will challenge you and make you think beyond the ordinary. So, prove your points, question everything, and stand up for what is right. The Security Council is the most powerful committee of the United Nations and it is up to you to use it efficiently.

DEPUTY PRESIDENT: AYAN AGRAWAL

A MUN conference is not just a platform to polish your reasoning and rebuttal skills and discuss pressing issues affecting the world, but also an opportunity for you to show off your debating and dressing skills. Analyse with a hawk's eye, research like an actuary, negotiate sensibly and you're guaranteed an award!

MODERATOR: KOMAL WANI

Greetings starshine, the earth says hello! There are many kinds of delegates in a committee, most of whom can be accurately described using the names of the seven dwarves in Snow White. Everyone can't be Doc, but I urge you to try your hardest. Be resolute in your paperwork (I try with these puns), eloquent in your speeches and thorough with your research. See you in committee.

PRESIDENT : ANUJ SHAH

Delegates of the SPECPOL, the world's in a state of polical unrest and this committee is more important than ever, for we strive to come to peaceful solutions to conflicts that divide the world.

Thus, each of you should be well-researched, so that this MUN can function smoothly like the UN.

DEPUTY PRESIDENT : ARJUN VIRANI

A good delegate is not one that speaks passionately or with extremely detailed research but a mixture of both. My first MUN started with ill-fitting suits and research on one agenda. The suits still don't fit but I've learnt the art of using the word DECORUM. Be prepared to hear that many times.

MODERATOR :VARUN VENUGOPAL

Hello delegates. I would like to welcome you to SPECPOL! One of the most interesting committees!

Don't believe me? Join us and find out your true potential to express your feelings and bring fourth your opinions in an absolutely fun yet formal way. Hope to see y'all soon.

PRESIDENT: SIDDHARTH SARDA

In the Legal Committee, not only will you get to showcase your judicial prowess against international criminals like pirates, but also State Heads of nations (and even UN officials!). So equip yourself with knowledge and passion. As your President, I look forward to fruitful debate and impeccable solutions in committee!

DEPUTY PRESIDENT: PRANAY AGARWAL

Dear delegates,

I'm looking forward to be your Deputy President for the Legal Committee. I'm currently in PACE (if I hear one more joke...) but, I'm an ex-Scottishite. I look forward to exciting debates and creative solutions as we convict pirates and prosecute those who think they have immunity from the law.

Peace out.

MODERATOR: VANDANA RAMESH

Dear delegates,

My MUN career had its humble beginnings in the Legal Committee at SMUN15. Ten MUNs later, I want to give back by making your experience as memorable as mine was. Our agendas will ignite sparks of interesting debates and I am looking forward to witness the best.

PRESIDENT: RUHI JAIN

The problems faced by our committee today aren’t small by any means. The burden on our shoulders isn’t light by any measure. As President of the ECOSOC, I look forward to intelligent debates and to meet diplomatic delegates who can tactfully find solutions to global problems.

DEPUTY PRESIDENT: ENAKSH SRIVASTAVA

At my first MUN, SMUN16 I was nervous about winning, but more so about my suit. I ended up receiving an award at SMUN16 and the following three MUN's I attended. But, I gained more than just awards, and learnt that the key is to argue like never before and leave them speechless.

MODERATOR: ABHYUDAY SEN

‘Speech is power. The power to persuade, to convert, to compel.’

Always use the power of speech, to overcome any of your shortcomings. Your speech should be laden with emotion and good vocabulary, to leave an impact. But also, always remember:

'SPEAK TO EXPRESS, NOT TO IMPRESS.'

And your words will automatically be impactful.
